This course examines the construction of women as both consumers and as objects of exchange in British literature from the nineteenth century on. We will study a range of literary texts including prose fiction and non-fiction, drama, and poetry as well as some cultural documents like fashion columns and advertisements.
At least 60% in 1.0 of English 1000-1999, or permission of the Department.
