This course explores the intersection of medicine and the movies. Through a study of films from several genres, including medical drama, bio-medical thriller, and medical sci-fi, we will study topics such as the medical bodyscape, biotourism, medical discourse and discrimination, medical visualization/imaging, and contagion.
At least 60% in Film Studies 1020E or Film Studies 1022 or special permission of the Department.
Film Studies 3360F/G if taken in 2021-22 or 2023-24.
2 lecture/seminar hours, three-hour film screening block (online, or in-person, or hybrid).
