Introduction to classical systems engineering and associated methods, tools and practices, as well as interdisciplinary frameworks for addressing systems-level challenges. Students will gain knowledge across topics including: the Systems Engineering V-model, human-centered design, modeling and simulation, Design for X, sustainability, sociotechnical systems, interface and risk management, and human decision making.
Registration in Year 2 or higher in Engineering.
IE 2298, or the former IE 2297A/B.
4 lecture hours per week. Accreditation units: Complementary Studies = 50%, Engineering Design = 50%.
