Both religion and culture create meaning through the art of the “remix,†from hip-hop sampling to sacred texts and artworks that creatively (mis)quote and re-interpret pre-existing traditions. This course explores intertextuality and creativity in religion alongside theory-driven investigation of global cultural expressions including DJ culture, comic books, and social media.
